What happens when brands have to persuade your AI, not just you?
AI agents are becoming capable of comparing products, managing subscriptions, and even contacting companies on a consumer’s behalf.
That raises an important question for marketers: in the future, will the real customer be the person or the AI acting on their behalf?
Traditionally, brands have relied on emotion, storytelling, and design to capture attention and influence purchasing decisions. But as AI agents take on a greater role in helping people decide what to buy, persuasion may become less driven by emotion or impulse and more by clear information, value, and evidence.
That does not mean marketing to people disappears. Brands may need to appeal to two audiences at once:
1. Humans
Use emotion, storytelling, and brand identity to make people care about your brand.
2. AI agents
Provide clear product information, competitive pricing, and evidence of quality and reliability to support recommendations.
The brands that adapt first may be the ones that learn how to win over both.
