TikTok is testing a new feature that automatically identifies products in videos, and then guides users to “find similar items on TikTok Shop.” This feature would allow all videos to become shoppable. 🛒
If users are accepting of TikTok becoming ads galore (spoiler alert: they won’t be), this feature could drastically change the e-commerce landscape. Picture consumers buying what they want without ever leaving a social media app.
Other social media platforms won’t be far behind; they might catch on to this faster than they copied Snap Inc.’s Stories! Meta could look to integrating Facebook Marketplace with Instagram. 📱
However, consumer acceptance is a big question mark; many Tiktok users already concerned about the current state of the app after the introduction of TikTok Shop. Boy, do we have news for you.
