The Future of Selling Is the End of Searching

December 3, 2025 By: FMI Managing Editor

A smart TV shows a shoppable video of a smiling woman holding up clothes while on-screen tags list items like a Zara knit sweater, Mango denim jeans, and H&M ankle boots with prices.Think about shopping online. You see a great product in a video, but then you have to pause, open a new tab, and desperately search for where to buy it. That wasted time and effort is exactly where sales disappear. But what if you didn’t have to search at all?

The biggest change coming to retail is the “Pause and Shop” movement.

Imagine you’re watching a YouTube video, a TV show or scrolling through Reels. The moment you see a cool item, you pause the screen, tap the product, and buy it right there.

Brands now have a direct, instant path from content to purchase. This speed eliminates the risk of customers second-guessing their purchase, simplifies the buying journey, and drives more impulse purchases.

As shopping continues to evolve, especially during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the brands that win are the ones that make it easy for people to go from “I like this” to “I bought it.”
