🧠 Imagine if “What’s your body type?” was a required question on your next marketing research survey. Well, Pinterest is making that question a part of its platform.
🙈 Social media can be a trigger for body image issues for many of its users. Especially on a platform like Pinterest, where people go to for fashion inspiration — making mood boards out of images that don’t necessarily represent your body type can be frustrating.
🔍 Understanding this issue, Pinterest has introduced “body type ranges,” allowing users to select their preferred body types for personalized search results.
Not only does this make the platform more inclusive, but consumer segments can now be defined by body types, and user activity on the app can be analyzed based on these segments to gain insights into user behaviour patterns.
This data can be utilized to enhance ad targeting and product recommendations, ultimately improving user experience on the platform.
