In addition to answering users’ queries like ChatGPT, Perplexity, a generative AI search engine, also suggests related questions. Despite promoting an ad-free search experience, advertising was always part of Perplexity’s business plan, and these related questions will soon feature native ads, allowing brands to influence them. 📣

However, its success will depend on factors like scale, brand safety measures, audience insights, and targeting effectiveness. 🔒

While we, and advertisers, see potential in Perplexity’s native ad format, concerns exist regarding relevance and brand safety. A brand wouldn’t want related questions they sponsor to show up against queries they don’t want to be associated with. â›”
