Multimodal Search Meets AI

May 9, 2025 By: FMI Staff

With Google Lens, you can take a photo and add text to refine the search.

What happens when you spot a crewneck you like—but wish it came in a different color without buttons? With Google Lens, you can take a photo and add text to refine the search. Now, add in Google’s new AI Mode, and it becomes a conversation: 💬 “Show me similar crewnecks without buttons” → “Make it beige” → “Under $80”

Google AI even remembers your preferences, adapts, and personalizes the experience. For companies and marketers, this signals an important shift.

Product discoverability is no longer just about keywords. To stay visible, brands must optimize for how people speak and see, not just how they type.
