With the increasing trend of adapting to the metaverse, there is an increasing concern for privacy too. While enjoying a personalized virtual world of their own, users of the metaverse will have a lot to give in terms of their data.
In this week’s video, Louis Rosenberg, CEO of Unanimous AI, discusses how the metaverse will track every aspect of its users to offer a hyper-personalized experience. He lists down the customer activities that will be tracked including emotion, voice, and gaze among others. Using this data, brands will no more target users with pop-up ads or promo videos but will create an environment displaying how the customer’s recent purchase is a preferred choice of the masses. As a result, pushing the customer to buy more of it.
Just like how important it is to offer a seamless virtual experience, it is equally essential to regulate the use of the data at the disposal of so many brands. To do so, Rosenberg also suggests some regulatory and non-regulatory measures where transparency of the tracking and usage of the data are amongst the most important ones.
