The Marketing AI Institute and Paul Roetzer just published its ‘2025 State of Marketing AI Report’ and we’ve pulled the top 4 trends that will shape the future of marketing.
1. AI’s Impact on Marketing Jobs: This year, marketers showed greater pessimism towards AI replacing marketers, with 53% saying they believe AI will take more jobs than it will create. However, respondents still indicated that they see both threats and opportunities of AI in their roles.
2. Striving for Efficiency: A whopping 82% of marketers indicate they’re using AI to optimize repetitive data-driven tasks. Across the industry marketers eagerly anticipate the time-saved and increased efficiency that will come with AI.
3. AI Literacy is a Survival Skill: There is no question that prompt writing is a necessary skill for marketers to yield better results. However, 62% of marketers said that their employers do not provide training on AI and prompt engineering. This presents a clear opportunity for organizations to invest in upskilling their teams and stay competitive in an AI-driven landscape.
4. AI Roadmaps are Vital: Roughly 75% of companies have yet to implement a 1–2-year strategy outlining use cases and projects for AI. However, the few that do send a powerful signal that they are prepped to scale, offer training, and have outlined an ethics policy.
AI is no longer a “nice-to-have” in marketing, it’s a career-critical skill set. While marketers are eager to embrace its potential, most are still navigating without a map. A lack of training, missing roadmaps, and rising job insecurity paint a clear picture: the future belongs to teams that invest in AI literacy and infrastructure now.
